Ultrasounds
A safe, non-invasive imaging technique.
We offer veterinary ultrasounds to diagnose pregnancy in cattle and horses. Much like ultrasound for people, animal ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive imaging technique.
How does ultrasound work?
When the sound waves penetrate the body, they “bounce” back. The ultrasound machine measures the time it takes for a sound wave to bounce back and creates an image.
This safe, non-invasive diagnostic tool allows veterinarians to visualize soft tissue structures within the bodies of cattle and horses in real-time. Commonly used for reproductive evaluations, ultrasound can detect pregnancies as early as 30 days of gestation in cattle and 14 days of gestation in horse, monitor fetal development, and assess reproductive health in both mares and cows. It can also more precisely diagnose twins. The procedure uses high-frequency sound waves to create detailed images, providing accurate, immediate insights. Our portable ultrasound machines allow us to perform exams on the farm, making it an essential part of modern herd and equine health management.
